I have been able to experiment freely with painting, exploring different techniques and mediums. My goal with painting no matter what the subject or medium is to be continually learning. I believe that good drawing is fundamental to painting. I have had many struggles with colour and tone, composition and mark making. Not surprisingly living on a small island the coastline has been a constant inspiration.

Over the last few years I have been working on several series of oil pantings on wooden roofing shingles. The texture of the wood created by the saw marks adds another dimension to the painting. I enjoy the process of applying the paint in layers and then sanding or rubbing off the paint to reveal the colours below.

Recently I have started to use driftwood to paint on. I like to use pieces of wood with a history and I try to integrate the textures and marks on the wood into the painting.

I love to paint the traditional Island boats, such as the Cariacou and Bequia boats. I also love to paint the seabirds, pelicans, herons, terns and egrets and the cattle and goats grazing at the waters edge.
